Mangalore: Grand procession, colourful event mark 5th Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava

Mangalore, Sep 10: The 5th Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava celebration was held in a grand manner at Jeppinamogeru here on Monday September 9.
The celebration concluded with immersion of Ganapati idol at Netravati river near Sri Mallikarjuna temple.
A religious programme was held in the evening wherein health minister U T Khadar, MLA J R Lobo, former MLA Krishna Palemar, KPCC secretary Ivan D’Souza, Anildas, Jayaram Shekha, corporator Surendra, corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, Ashok Majila among others were the chief guests.
The stage programme was followed by Mahapooje and distribution of Prasadam.
A procession of a vibrantly decorated Ganapati idol was taken out at 7.30 pm and was immersed in Netravathi river near Sri Mallikarjuna temple. The procession was accompanied by a number of colourful tableaux, electrifying music and dance which added charm to the celebration.
Thousands of people took part in the celebration till the immersion of lord Ganesha’s idol.
