Sullia: Bus conductor rapes minor girl, arrested

Sullia, Sep 4: A bus conductor has been arrested for taking a minor girl to Bangalore without the permission of her parents and then allegedly raping her. The bus conductor is now in police custody.
The girl, studying in a college at Subramanya, used to travel daily by government bus from Sullia to Subramanya, during which she fell in love with bus conductor Nagesh. The conductor lured the girl and convinced her to go with him to Bangalore.
The girl travelled with him from Subramanya to Bangalore, where she was allegedly raped by him. Later the accused Nagesh made her take a bus to Subramanya while he left for his native place in Hassan.
As the girl did not return home, her family members filed a complaint in Subramanya police station. The girl returned home on Sunday September 1 afternoon and revealed the incident to her family. She was soon taken to a private hospital in Puttur for medical examination.
The police, on investigation, learnt that Nagesh hailed from Hassan and was working as a bus conductor from Dharmasthala depot.
The accused was arrested by Subramanya ASI B Kushalappa Gowda and by constable Dayanand at Chowduhalli in Goruru on Tuesday September 3.
Due interrogation, Nagesh admitted to the charges. He was produced in the principal sessions court in Mangalore and sent to judicial custody.
