New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS): The issue of the poor state of the Delhi-Jaipur national highway was raised in parliament Tuesday with a BJP member complaining that covering the distance between the two cities now took almost three times more than earlier.
BJP member Chandan Mitra raised the matter in the Rajya Sabha and said the journey now takes 8-10 hours against three hours earlier.
Blaming the National Highways Authority of India for the chaotic situation, Mitra said: "I have failed to understand why it takes so long to construct and upgrade highways."
He also asked why vehicles were being made to pay toll on poor roads and appealed to the road transport and highways minister to get a first hand experience by driving down the route.
