Abuja, Sep 3 (IANS): At least 10 people were killed in an attack by gunmen who struck at a village in Nigeria's Kaduna state, police said Tuesday.
Two families were separately killed in the attack Monday, along with other residents of the village, Xinhua reported quoting Aminu Lawan, the state police spokesperson.
"Some of the people suspected to have carried out the attack have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation," he added.
A resident and youth leader of the community identified as Raphael Soja said the gunmen entered the village through a forest, shooting indiscriminately, while others used swords and knives to slit the throats of residents.
"That was how a couple and their two children were killed. And then, another couple was killed while the children escaped," he said, adding that so far, eight bodies have been retrieved by the villagers.
He said the youth of the community were still looking for other missing bodies.
