Heavy rain lashes Bangalore, commuters bear the brunt
Bangalore, Sep 2 (TNN): Heavy rain lashed vast swathes of the city on Sunday evening, flooding roads and reducing the weekend traffic movement to a crawl.
The rain, which began around 8.30pm, showed no signs of a let-up in the first half-an-hour, but slackened a bit later.

The central business district took the brunt of the rain havoc. Cars were grounded in knee-deep water on Palace Road, in front of Maharani's College. Three buses were submerged under the railway bridge near Anand Rao circle.
Overflowing manholes sent rain water gushing into five houses in Dasarahalli, off Tumkur Road, and at least five houses in Shivajinagar and Dodda Bommasandra were also flooded with water.
However, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike deployed four teams to clear rainwater from houses in Dasarahalli.
The meteorological department had predicted that only a few parts of the city would receive rainfall. But barring Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Mahadevapura, it rained heavily for more than two hours in many parts of the city.
