Karkala, Aug 31: MLA V Sunil Kumar has promised that he will get the naxal affected area developed according to the grants received from the government.
He was speaking after inaugurating the coconut fiber product training programme jointly held by trade and industries department, district industries center, Karnataka state coconut fiber products development center, Bangalore and Edu grama panchayat.
The programme was held at naxal affected Edu grama’s backward tribe development project community center building on Friday, August 30.
He said that the government has sanctioned several projects for the sensitive areas of Edu grama which is included in the list. The projects are meant to bring the youth to the mainstream. "It is necessary to be employed in order to be self sufficient. As this is a coastal region the training on preparation of coconut fiber products is being held," he said.
"Youth is the eye of the family. So the youth must enter mainstream, said Udupi commissioner Dr M T Reju in his address.
Edu grama panchayat in charge president Sujatha presided over the programme. Taluk panchayat president Rashmi Shetty, Udupi Panchayat committee president Udaya S Kotian, Taluk Panchayat vice president Jayavarma Jain, Trade and Industries department director Abdul Azeez, Taluk Panchayat official Chennappa Moily, Karnataka state coconut fiber development corporation manager and director Ramakrishna Gowda, District industries joint director P Nagesh, Karnataka state coconut fiber development corporation regional director Rajashekar etc were present.
