Mangalore, Aug 31: Carmel Kiran, a TV program by Infant Jesus Shrine was launched on Friday August 30.
The TV programme was launched by Fr Sweebert D’Silva SJ, principal of St Aloysius College, by switching on the remote. Immediately the title song played and the trailer of the programme was telecast.
Fr Sweebert acknowledged the efforts and commitment of the Carmelites to spread the Word of God, especially through the Infant Jesus Shrine where so many devotees receive the blessings and graces of Infant Jesus. He congratulated and wished them all the best in their new venture.
The chief guest was Steven Mendes, founder of Divine Word channel. He expressed his happiness in having this programme telecast on his channel. He stated that it is a quality programme that will enhance the quality and viewership of the Divine Word channel, because it is based on the scriptures and Christian values, and is a witness to the fruitful ministry of the Carmelites in the service of God.
Stany compered the programme, while Fr Stephen Pereira OCD, editor of Carmel Kiran thanked all present.
Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, has always been committed to the mission of proclaiming the Word of God and spreading the values of the Gospel. Being aware of the constant call of the Holy Father to use the available technologies and mass media for this purpose of evangelization, the shrine has been active in this ministry of the media for many years. Now the Shrine has come up with a TV Program called Carmel Kiran.

As the subtitle suggests, Carmel Kiran hopes to spread the warmth and light of God’s love present in his word, to all people, so that their hearts may be brightened and they may share the warmth of God’s love with others. Through this channel, the radiant beauty and relevance of the values of the Gospel in the present world will be projected, so that the life of Christ and his teaching may guide us in our day-to-day living. In view of this purpose, Carmel Kiran will contain:
• Reflections on the Word of God
• The teaching of the Church in various matters
• Talks and presentations on Carmelite spirituality
• Biography of the saints of the day
• Discussions on Christian and social values
• Interviews with experts of various religious and social fields
• Testimonies of devotees who have experienced the miraculous blessings of Infant Jesus
• Catholic news from around the world
