Mangalore, Aug 28: Hundreds of music lovers were taken on a journey of evergreen melodies, at the ‘Geet Gaata Chal’ event held at town hall on Tuesday August 27.
Multi-lingual singer Anita D’Souza, Srikanth Kamath, Mohammed Haneef, and Ranjan Das gave a dazzling performance and captivated the audience with songs of past generation.
Inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, chairman of expert group of institutions Narendra Nayak said "We have seen various classical artists who practice every day and deliver shows. Based on lively atmosphere, they sing well, but here are the artistes who can handle any crowd," he said commenting on the singers of the show.
Lauding artistes for captivating the audience hearts through various shows over the years, Nayak said in this show the singers themselves are the organizers and audiences should be privileged to attend the same.
Rohan Monteiro, MD of Rohan Corporation, chief guest said that the yesteryear melodies are soulful, create a vibrancy and gives mental peace. He also asked people to support these artistes and lauded organizers for hosting a beautiful programme.
Chief guests Prakash Sheregar, proprietor of Avinash Mosaic Industry and businessman Jagadish Karia also spoke on the occasion and wished good luck.
After the success of 'Rafi-Kishore Nite' in 2010, and 'Lata Ki Suneheri Yaadein' in 2011, ‘Yaadon Ki Baarat’ in 2012, the same artistes - a melodious combination of Anita, Srikanth Kamath, Mohammed Haneef and Ranjan Das presented yet another musical evening ‘Geet Gaata Chal’.
Nostalgic memories poured out from these artistes. Melodies like ‘Allah tero Naam’, ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, ‘Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam’, ‘Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan’, ‘Inhi Logon Ne’, ‘Aaja re aa jara aa’, ‘Dosti Pyar Ka Pehla Kadam’, ‘Tera Mujhse Hai Pehla Ka Naata Koi’, ‘Jilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga’, ‘Jane Kyon Log Mohabbat Kiya Karate Hain’, ‘Aaja tujko pukare’ and others spellbound the jam-packed audience.
Overall the musical evening was a huge success based on the response received from the audience.
