Casino official booked for abusing woman worker

Panaji, Aug 27 (IANS): A casino official has been booked for verbally abusing a woman steward at one of Goa's top offshore casinos, police said Tuesday.

Srinivas Naik, director of Casino Pride, was booked after the woman steward said in her complaint that Naik abused her in front of her colleagues, and called her a "characterless" woman.

"We had received the complaint yesterday (Monday). An FIR has been registered," said Police Sub-Inspector Anant Gaonkar.

Naik has dismissed the allegations as "false and baseless".

The woman further said she has been repeatedly verbally abused by the accused in the past.

Casino Pride is anchored in the Mandovi river off the capital Panaji.
