Udupi: Urban local bodies reserved for SC candidates, women

Udupi, Aug 25: The government has announced reservations for the posts of president and vice-president in urban local bodies. The post of CMC president has been reserved for an SC candidate and the post of  vice-president post for a woman from general category.

Udupi CMC has a majority of Congress candidates with 22 seats out of 35.

There are suggestions that Yuvaraj elected from Subramanyanagar may contest for the post of president. However, the vice-president post has no clear winner with many candidates like Amritha Krishnamurthy, Janaki Ganapathy Shettigar, and Sandhya Kumari.
