Mangalore, Aug 23: "Math genius professor K A Krishnamurthy is an extraordinary personality, who was well versed in subjects such as moral science, art, music and sports; he was fondly remembered by his colleagues, students and close friends," noted professor R Victor former HOD of English department after the inauguration ceremony at Eric Mathias Hall, St Aloysius College here on Friday August 23.
"He had secured the second rank in Math in college; the answer sheets of which are still preserved in the museum as a memory. Professor K A Krishnamurthy has influenced many students with his teaching skills, I am also one among them. His teaching was simple tremendous as well as friendly.”
“Prof K A Krishnamurthy was an extrovert, an avid socialite and he lived life to the fullest. He adored Carnatic music; his wife Kannakavalli was an equal genius,” he added.
Dr Vinaya Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University who presided on this occasion said “professor K A Krishnamurthy was a cynosure for all when he entered the tennis court and played wearing a dhoti."
“I was amazed to know that he had guided a few of the tennis players in a tournament held at Chennai. He hails from Chennai but he would still speak in Konkani. He is a real role model to the society who showed how to lead life in extraordinary way,” he added.
On this occasion T Ananthakrishna chairman of Karnataka released the souvenir and said “Prof K A Krishnamurthy always emphasized students to work on their math sums. 'If you don’t work out on sums you will be stuck at the examination hall'”, he added.
"A students life is like a rose bud among thorns but prof K A Krishnamurthy would blossom them by removing thorns through his preaching," he stated.
Fr Denzil Lobo, rector of St Aloysius College, professor H Giridhar, former HOD of Physics Department, Govindas College Surthkal, professor KR Upadhyaya former HOD of English Department, St Aloysius College also spoke on this occasion.
Walter D’ Souza, president Prof KA Krishnamurthy Birth Centenary Celebration Committee welcomed the gathering,Fr Swebert D’ Silva, secretary delivered the vote of thanks, Anu Priya Shetty lecturer compered the programme.
