Mangalore, Aug 21: It was a rewarding experience for 55 youth of the parish belonging to ICYM and YCS organizations on Sunday afternoon August 18.
Under the leadership of assistant parish priest Fr Vinod Lobo and animators Vincent D’Costa, Prima D’Souza, Anitha D’Souza and Henry Mathias, they visited Mount Rosary Charitable Institute, Alangar Moodabidri, and 22Kms from Kinnigoli.
At the beginning Fr Alfred J Pinto, explained the importance of the visit to the youth and their responsibility towards the society and blessed the mission.
Upon reaching the Ashram, Fr Edwin Pinto director of the charitable institute and founder of ‘Helpers of Mount Rosary’ congregation extended a warm welcome to the youth and explained the good work that is being carried out at the place.
He informed that the charitable institute was founded in the year 1937 by Fr Francis Elias D’Souza for the benefit of the aged, destitute, differently abled adults and children. Fr Edwin is ably assisted by Fr Marc Walder (former editor of Rakno weekly), Sr Precilla D’Mello administrator, Sr Marcelin and 25 nuns of the Helpers of Mount Rosary congregation.
Fr Edwin thanked the youth for their concern towards the less fortunate of brethren and requested their prayers for the success of the mission.
The youngsters mingled and interacted freely with the 250 inmates, entertained them with songs, dance, jokes and mime acts and gave prizes to the winners.
