Mangalore: ‘Vruksha Bandhan’ celebrated to preserve trees

Mangalore, Aug 21: We usually see people celebrating Raksha Bandhan to celebrate and maintain a good relation between a brother and a sister. But there are a few environment lovers in the city who on Tuesday August 20 celebrated ‘Vruksha Bandhan’ with an aim of preserving trees.

The members of Rotract club, Mangalore CITU, environment lovers, Karavali yuva sinchana along with Madhav Ullal were busy celebrating ‘Vruksha Bandhan’ on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

The environment lovers with the aim of protecting the trees, tied a Vruksha Bandhan thread to the trees planted in Jyothi Balmatta road.

"Other than cutting trees and saplings, we should preserve it," said Madhav Ullal to citizens.

On the occasion, prominent artist Dinesh Holla, Rotaract president Keshava Ramakunja, Madhava Nayak Adyar, Dinesh Kodialbail, Rajesh Devadiga, Harish Adyar, Dinesh Salian, Nithin Ullal among others were present.
