American woman assaulted inside Mumbai local

Mumbai, Aug 19 (PTI): An American woman was on Sunday assaulted inside a local train by an unidentified person, who escaped with her mobile phone, police said.

The incident took place late this evening when the train was approaching Mumbai Central railway station, DCP (Western Railway) B Shirsat said.

The accused attacked the woman, identified as Michelle Mark. He snatched her i-Phone and fled from the spot.

When other passengers noticed it, they alerted the railway officials, who got her admitted to government-run Nair Hospital.

According to Shirsat, a case of robbery and assault has been registered against an unknown person.

    dear stan..both the quotes you mentioned are not justifying the act. both qutoes acknowledge that these things are happening in india and get widly published in internaitonal media where as acts happened in foreign countires are not widely published. their media is very smart and sensible for not to highlight every petty crime. this mumbai incident is nothing but a petty crime and not targeted towards any foreginer where as UK case was a clear racial abuse. why does indian media covers these petty crime in mainstream news? its just derogatory to indian public

    You are correct. When one of our Indian citizen died in Ireland because of their rule/Doctors negligence and another Indian committed suicide , all Indian Joined commenting those Government and their rules. Whey we can’t correct our Government /people first. If you see all the Indian news that there are rapes, suicide, deaths due to food poisoning, doctors negligence but we are just see others.
