Beltangady, Aug 17: An orientation programme was organized for the first year PG students by SDM College, Ujire on Friday August16.
The principal of SDM College Dr B Yashovarma said, “Inculcating ethical and moral values to become a real citizen of the society is the initiation of higher education.”
“SDM College is recognised everywhere for the culture based education imparted on the students as well as instilling value to learning process has been the objective of SDM institutions since its origin”, he stated.
He also said, “value towards the process of learning has been the main objective of SDM institutions since its origin.”
Defining higher education as rare privilege, he noted students should become agents of change by adapting necessary changes at post-graduation level and increase their competitiveness to establish themselves in the market for an appropriate job.
Dean of PG studies of SDM College, professor M Y Manjula has stated, “higher education demands for understanding of the concept rather than mere reproduction of the same.”
She also urged the students to repose faith in their lecturers, persevere towards the set goals and gain higher knowledge in the next two academic years.
MA (Master of Arts) in English and MA in Statistics are the two fresh post graduate programmes introduced by the college from this academic year.
Registrar evaluation of SDM College professor Ajay Kumbrabail, former dean of PG studies professor Mahaveer Jain, various departmental heads and faculty members were present on the occasion.
Professor Ravishankar welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. Lecturer Swathi hosted the event and lecturer Prarthana proposed the vote of thanks.
