Karkala, Aug 15: We have seen a number of instances of cattle transportation wherein animals are inhumanly bundled into vehicles that are cramped for space.
In this case though, it was not cattle but people who were transported in a goods tempo.
On the occasion of Independence Day, NCC cadets were bundled into a jam-packed goods tempo and transported to their institutes after celebrations at the ground.
The tempo was meant for transport of gas cylinders by a gas agency. It is yet to be known as to who had authorized their travel in the tempo.
There are buses in the schools and colleges in the area for transport of students. Their administration would not have hesitated to allow transport of the cadets on special occasions like these, opined a local who was eyewitness to the incident.
