Mangalore: 'Geet Gata Chal' to entertain yesteryear fans on Aug 27

Mangalore, Aug 12: For all the music lovers who adore old Bollywood tunes, here is good news. A musical nite, ‘Geet Gata Chal’, featuring the golden melodies of yesteryears, is all set to intoxicate the audience on Tuesday August 27 at 6.30 pm at the Town Hall.
Multi-lingual singer Anita D’Souza, Srikanth Kamath, Mohammed Haneef, and Ranjan Das are ready to captivate the audience with songs of the past generation. The concert is open to all.
In the past, the team had organized ‘Rafi-Kishore Nite’, ‘Lata Ki Suneheri Yaadein’, and ‘Yaadon Ki Baarat’ which received much support from the jam-packed crowds. This is the fourth such annual show being hosted in the city.
This time, the two-and-a-half hour musical treat consists of as many as 23 songs and nearly 7 medleys belonging to the different eras. ‘Allah tero naam’ (Hum Dono), ‘Oh re taal mile’ (Anokhi Raat), ‘Baade armon se rakha’, ‘Hai agar dushman’, (Hum kisi se kam nahin) are a few songs from the list.

Anita D’Souza says that the musical evening will start at sharp 6.30 pm and the guest will speak only for two minutes. “We have given importance to only old songs. There are no comical presentations either. We want to give maximum to the music lovers in terms of music. Mainly, elderly people come and its is a reserved atmosphere with seriousness and reverence for the old songs,” she further adds.
Kamath adds that there are so many musical concerts are organized which consists of only new songs. “But this is one occasion for people to recollect old memories,” he says. He makes a note that the latest songs have a validity of a maximum of three months.
“Afterwards, they disappear. However, the old Bollywood tunes are still in the minds of the people. And, music lovers come with so much enthusias,” he said.
Narendra L Nayak, musician and chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, and vice-president of Sangeet Bharati Foundation will inaugurate the musical evening. Rohan Moneiro, MD, Rohan Corporation, Prakash Sherigar, proprietor, Avinash Mosaic Industry, and Jagadish Karia, businessman, will be present on the dais.
