Karkala, Aug 7: A complaint of fraud has been filed in the town police station against Ganesh (48), a native of Hassan, who had been working as the manager of Revanth Farm at Nandrottu near Sanoor here. The complaint has been filed by Revanth Farm owner Nagaratna. Ganesh was working as the manager of Revanth Farm for the last 3 years.
In her complaint Nagaratna has accused that Ganesh absconded after it was found out that he was involved in giving false account statements and thereby cheating. A few months ago it was found out that Rs 80,000 meant for the wages of the farm workers was misused by Ganesh. He was questioned by the owner about this. Having come to know that his misdeeds had come to the fore, Ganesh left the farm and never returned.
He used to bring labourers from North Karnataka to work in Revanth Farm on annual payment-basis. However the owners were not given information about the annual payment contract and Ganesh used to take money from the owner every week for wages. However the labourers were not paid and Ganesh used this money for his personal expences. He had even taken a loan of Rs one lac a few months back and had not returned.
The cheating came to the fore when Ganesh submitted false accounts during the annual auditing at the end of March 2013. It was then that he was questioned by the Farm owners. On the following day, Ganesh left for Hassan taking 100 bags of ginger worth almost Rs 8 lac which was in the Farm. On the next day he called the owner and informed that he had come to Hassan to sell ginger. He also promised that he would buy cattle for the farm and shall transfer the remaining money to the Farm account. However it’s more than a month eversince and now his mobile phone too is switched off.
Nagaratna has complained to the police that in all, Ganesh has cheated them of Rs 10 lac.
The town police have taken up the investigation and are on look out to nab Ganesh.
