Kundapur, Aug 3: Raising their voice against the poor condition of roads at Kota and Goliangady, the Udupi district Jana Jagruti Vedike members protested by stopping the trucks belonging to Navayug Constructions on Thursday August 2.
Two years back, the roads were repaired but as many trucks have been passing on a routine basis, they have been completely damaged now. Navayug Company for the purpose of road widening work transported crushed gravel stones from Nenchar day and night and as a result, the road from Shiroor to Nenchar cross is completely damaged, the protestors said.
Also, the bridge at Sita river near Kota Goliangady is in a bad condition. As roads are poor, drivers of light vehicles find it difficult to commute, alleged the protestors.
After the protest, police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.
Later, the protestors submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner, district in-charge minister, MLA and the engineer of the road widening project.
