Mangalore, Jan 29: Accountants are backbone of any industry and need to be proud of their profession, said Mangalore University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa. He was speaking at valedictory of the two-day national seminar on accounting practices, an interactive dialogue with professionals organised by St Aloysius College faculty of Commerce and the Institution of Chartered Accountants of India, Mangalore Branch at the college IT hall on Saturday.

It is the chartered accountants who take the industry to higher levels by maintaining higher standards of accounting procedures. They determine the growth of industry and also indicate its declines. Further, industries require intellectual accounting professionals who are well verse with current affairs.
 
The requirement for knowledgeable accountants is on rise with the advent of globalisation and IT revolution which has also resulted in the change in accounting procedures.

Corporation Bank chartered accountant and deputy general manager Rajaram Kamath who was the chief guest on the occasion spoke about the essentials for successful businessmen. Taking quick and rational decisions are the crucial elements in business for which a sound professional knowledge and academic background is essential, said Kamath.

St Aloysius College Institutions rector Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu, college principal Fr Eugene Lobo and faculty of Commerce dean Prof A M Narahari were also present on the occasion.
