Mangalore, Jul 17: A bus conductor has been arrested on charges of repeatedly raping a minor girl, making her pregnant and threatening to upload her morphed picture on the internet.
The accused Faisal (30) from Shantinagar, Kavoor, allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl from Jyothinagar, Kavoor here.
It is said that the girl, orginally from Bhadravati, used to catch the 47 B 'Raksha' bus after class hours to go home. Faisal was a conductor in the same bus and used to see her board it every day.
A few months ago he approached her and said that he had clicked her photo in the bus and threatened to morph and upload it on the internet if she refused to meet him and do as he bid. He also threatened to kill her if she complained to her parents or anyone else. Frightened by his threats, the girl remained silent and he continued to blackmail her.
He then began stalking her and also found out her place of residence and her daily routine.
In April this year, her parents had to go to their native place to attend a funeral, and the girl was alone for three days. Faisal who came to know this seized the opportunity and entered the house at night and locked it from inside. He then repeatedly raped her for three days, it is said.
He again threatened to upload her morphed photo on the internet and ordered her to remain silent. The girl continued to keep the matter a secret.
However, the girl later became pregnant and the parents came to know of what had occured.
On Wednesday July 17, they approached the Kavoor police and lodged a complaint against Faisal. He was arrested soon after.
Speaking to daijiworld, ACP Kiran said that the girl had been sexually harassed for four months.
"The girl used to travel by bus, of which Faisal was the conductor. He clicked her photograph and threatened to upload it on internet. He then went to her house when she was alone and sexually harassed her, and threatened her. He repeated the act three or four times more," the ACP said.
"The incident came to light when her mother took her for medical examination and found that she was pregnant," he added.
The accused has been booked under sections 376 and 506 of IPC and 3(2) (V) SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, and section 4 of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
