Mangalore: Tulasi Maddineni takes charges as CEO of zilla panchayat

Mangalore, Jul 15: Tulasi Maddineni, who was transferred all of a sudden from the position of deputy commissioner of Koppal district recently, took charge as chief executive officer of Dakshina Kannada (DK) zilla panchayat on Monday July 15.
It may be recalled that Shivaraj Tangadadi had allegedly brought pressure on the government to transfer Maddineni, as she stood firm on following the rule of law, and took adverse stand relating to a case in which his younger brother was constructing a bungalow illegally in a land said to be in someone else’s name. It is said that fake papers were created to show that the land belonged to Tangadagi’s brother.
After taking charge of her new post at the ZP office, Maddineni held discussions with district officials.
Speaking to reporters, Maddineni said, "It was my dream to work in Dakshina Kannada, and fortunately I have got this opportunity now. We will work together to make Dakshina Kannada the best.
"The people of DK are the most cultured, mindful of rules and insist on their implementation. The youth here are engaged in sports and games and utilize their time productively," she added.
She said she has some ideas for DK's development and will discuss them with other officials. "We will give proactive and responsible administration to the people and ensure that government schemes reach the common man," she said.
Outgoing CEO Dr K N Vijayprakash said, "I worked CEO of ZP here for two years. The people, elected representatives, officers and staff and especially the media have cooperated well, and I thank them. I expect the same kind of cooperation to the new CEO as well.
"During my tenure, the zilla panchayat concentrated on sectors like education, health, socio-economic uplifting of backward classes, solid and liquid waste management and so on. These programmes have given me satisfaction," he said.

Earlier in the day, Dr Vijayprakash addressed a press meet and said, “ZP has received Nirmal Gram Puraskar and many other awards during my tenure which have brought me immense satisfaction; Dakshina Kannada was the 11th district in the nation and first district in the state to bag this award.”
About the programmes implemented during his tenure, he said, “Programmes like solid waste management have been implemented in 203 gram panchayats, especially in Laila gram pachayat. Solid waste disposal of Kadaba gram panchayat even won award. ZP has also bagged Nirmal Gram Puraskar, Block Taluk award, and Gaurava Grama Sabha award."
"Introduction of sanitary napkins division in rural areas, installation of sanitary napkin disposal units in girls toilets in 641 higher primary schools, distribution of school accessories like waterproof bags, books, umbrellas to school children in remote areas at a budget of Rs 25 lac under Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana was an excellent programme undertake by the ZP," he said.
"About 80% of survey under ‘smart card’ has been completed for providing medical assistance to Koraga community in nine major hospitals in the city and the same will be launched soon. Programmes for providing financially assistance to physically challenged were successful. Special housing programme and self-employment programme for HIV-infected were also successful," he added.
He thanked all representatives, officers, institutions and media for their cooperation during his tenure.
