Srinagar, Jul 15 (IANS): Tension gripped villages in north Kashmir Monday where the kin and locals are awaiting the body of a Kashmiri youth who died under "mysterious" circumstances in Rajasthan.
Abid Ahmad Gania, 21, was from Larsun village in Ganderbal district, studying at an Islamic seminary in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) for the past eight months. Rajasthan Police informed his family that his body was found in Udaipur Sunday.
Police officers here told IANS they were in touch with their counterparts in Rajasthan and Maharashtra to ascertain facts pertaining to the deaths of two locals in these states.
Sunday witnessed hundreds of people joining the funeral procession of another local, Parvaiz Ahmad Teli, 35, who was from Qalamdanpora (Nawa Bazaar) in the old city area of Srinagar.
Teli was a salesman in a Kashmiri arts shop in Bangalore. He went to Mumbai to meet his relatives 15 days ago and went missing. His family said Maharashtra Police said they discovered Teli's body July 9.
As the news about Teli's death spread in the old city Sunday, people resorted to stone pelting.
Some mainstream and separatist leaders have demanded a fair probe into the deaths of the two youths.
