Mumbai, Jan 20: The Mittal Chambers Co-operative Society has refused permission to the Pakistan Consulate to house its office in Mittal Chambers building at Nariman Point in south Mumbai, following a unanimous resolution passed by its members.
"The members felt that if the consulate office is allowed, it would cause a great deal of inconvenience to the members on several fronts, including parking problem," chairman of the society A V Rajagopal told PTI here on Thursday. .
Despite Pakistan High Commissioner's personal visit to Mittal Chambers two weeks ago, the 101 members along with 12 committee members of the society unanimously passed a resolution in this regard at its annual general meeting yesterday, he added.
"Every member has given their views in writing and the decision taken by the committee was as per the by-laws," Rajagopal said, adding, "We are sorry about it."
