Mangalore, Jul 2: “It is not true that there is dearth of young and talented writers in Konkani. In fact the young writers of Konkani have come out of traditional mindset. They are open for new ideas” said Fr Francis Rodrigues, editor of Raknno Konkani weekly.
Fr Francis was addressing the gathering presiding over a unique confluence of young litterateurs, ‘Yuva Kirnam’ held at Bishop’s House, Kodialbail, here on Sunday June 30. The show was organized at the joint aegis of Konkani Writers Forum – Karnataka ® and Raknno, Konkani weekly.
Fr Francis conveyed best wishes to the youth in order to shine in Konkani literary sphere with their major contributions.
Vishwa Konkani Kendra chairman Basti Vaman Shenoy and veteran litterateur Edwin J F D’Souza inaugurated the programme with panellists.
Short story writer and poet Antony D’Souza Barkur, poet and columnist Wilma D’Souza, Poet and short story writer Venkatesh Nayak partaken in the seminar. They shared their views on their inspiration to pen literature, the existing situation of Konkani and its literature and future.
Konkani Writers Forum – Karnataka ® president and editor of www.kittal.com r Henry Mendonca (H M Pernal) moderated the show.
Marcel D’Souza, General Secretary, Konkani Writers Forum, welcomed the gathering. Joachim Pinto Vamanjoor, Treasurer , Konkan Writers Forum proposed vote of thanks. Joint secretary Tony Ferros compered the programme.
