Mangalore, Jun 29: St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore as a part of Vanamahotsava celebration organized Green Campus Drive in association with the Forest Department, Mangalore and 92.7 Big FM. The event was organized by the National Seva Sangh (N.S.S) of the institution on June 28.
The event was presided by Jeeth Milan Roche, a social activist from Mangalore and president of the program porfessor ML Sureshnath, HOD Botany, St Aloysious college and team Big FM.
Roche an activist from Mangalore spoke about the relation between the youth and environment. He told the 250-300 students about how he himself had started planting trees in the city and wants to turn the city into a much greener place.
Professor Sureshnath stressed on the change in the ambience and the effect it has upon us. He told that Mother Nature need not be helped by us, but we need to do things like this to help ourselves and save mankind. Father Walter Andrade, the financer of the college was also present.
Later there was a sapling planting session, when all the NSS students and the chief guest along with team Big FM planted some saplings that were given to the college by the forest department.
The master of ceremony Afsana along with the members of NSS invocated to God, sang an environmental song and took an oath to protect the environment.
