Mangalore, Jun 28: Corporation Bank donated Rupees One Crore to the Prime Ministers’ Relief Fund for the State of Uttarakhand which has been recently hit by torrential rains followed by cloudbursts, landslides and flash floods. The employees of the bank have also donated one day’s salary to the relief fund in support of the relief and rescue operations for the victims of Uttarkhand calamity.
Communications in the state of Uttarakhand have come to a total standstill. The devastation has resulted in the death and injury of many people. The raging rivers have swept away houses, buildings and some villages in the state, which was brimming with tourists and pilgrims. Military and Para-military forces have been deployed to help in rescue and relief operations for evacuation of those trapped. Many residents of the State have been displaced with their houses having been damaged or totally washed away.
As a part of fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibilities and as a responsible corporate citizen, the Bank initiated several welfare measures aiming at the underprivileged section of the society in fulfillment of its commitment to social priorities.
As the bounden duty to extend support for the relief and rescue operations as well as for mitigating the sufferings of the affected fellow countrymen, Corporation Bank has risen to the occasion and has donated to the Prime Ministers’ National Relief Fund towards the cause of the affected in Uttarakhand. As responsible citizens of the country, the 15,000 plus CorpBankers have also donated their one day’s salary for the relief measure.
