Belgaum Diocese releases Kannada version of SSVP statutes

Belgaum, Jun 28: The Belgaum Diocese Central Council  of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has achieved the credit of releasing  the Kannada  translation of the Statutes of the  Society. The  functioning  of  SSVP is governed by well formulated  rules and regulations  that  are adhered to  both  at the national and  international  levels.

In Karnataka, the SSVP is functioning in many dioceses namely Mangalore, Bangalore, Mysore, Belgaum, Udupi,  Belthangady,  Karwar, Shimoga  and  in  some dioceses for more than a century.  The need for a Kannada version of the Statutes was felt very strongly.  Belgaum  Diocese  priest  Fr Joseph Alexander  took on this stupendous task  with  encouragement from  Belgaum  Bishop Peter Machado, Fr Freddy Anto Raj – SSVP  Spiritual  Advisor, Fr Phillip Kutty  and  Clara  Fernandes, SSVP President  Belgaum Central Council thus bringing this long felt need to fruition.


           

 

The Kannada version was released at the hands of  SSVP National President, VMJ Balaswamy and Bishop Peter Machado  on  June 23 at  Sevalaya,  the Belgaum Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Dharwad  at the  Western India Region Coordination Committee Meeting  of  SSVP.
