Gurgaon, Jun 27 (PTI/HT): Two young women were brutally raped and assaulted in a moving cab for more than two hours as they tried to make their way back from a pub in Gurgaon.
The two women, both residents of Tughlakabad, aged 27, had reached the Club 18 pub in Vipul Agora on MG Road at 11:30pm. They were regulars at the club. By 12pm they decided to return.
They booked a cab at 12pm, who asked for Rs. 300 to get them to Delhi. Though they could not remember the exact make and colour of the car, they say it was a "low" car, probably a sedan like Honda City.
The driver took the proper turn at Iifco Chowk towards Delhi but when they stopped at a traffic signal, two other men boarded the cab.
At this point, the cab took a right turn on to the Golf Course Road towards Faridabad.
The women were repeatedly raped in the moving cab till one of the cab stopped on the Sector 57 Extension Road because one of the men needed to use the bathroom.
One of the women jumped out of the car at this opportunity, ran to a security guard nearby and borrowed his mobile phone to call the phone. The call was registered at the Police Control Room at 2:30pm.
When one woman escaped, the men panicked and drove for another 10 to 15 minutes before dumping the other on the road.
Both women were taken to the Gurgaon Civil Hospital where doctors confirmed rape at 4:30am. After treatment for their wounds, the two were allowed to return home.
From the registration number the women have provided, the police have ascertained the car was an Innova registered in Delhi. The GPS on the car is showing that it is in Delhi and not Gurgaon. The women however maintain that it was a sedan.
Arrests are yet to be made in the case. The women have been able to identify one of the assailants as a man they had seen dancing at the pub.
