'Bouncers' must register with government: Goa CM

Panaji, Jun 26 (IANS): Bouncers or muscular, bicep-hugging tee shirt wearing toughies will now have to register themselves with the government in order to ply their trade in Goa.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters on the sidelines of a party function that the decision could be taken soon in light of an attack by bouncers on a renowned doctor Tuesday.

"Bouncers will have to register with the government soon," Parrikar said, expressing regret over the assault.

Four bouncers were arrested and one is missing after they assaulted and roughed up the doctor while he was passing by a film shoot location.

The bouncers, according to police, had been hired to keep the crowd at bay from the sets of upcoming film 'Mango'.

Apart from keeping trouble makers at bay in Goa's clubs and discos, mining companies have also hired bouncer teams to guard mining operations from competitors as well as villagers protesting against mining.
