M'lore: Labourer becomes victim of accidental electrocution

Mangalore, Jun 22: Honnaiah Moolya (53), a daily wage worker, lost his life after accidentally coming into contact with live wire dangling from an electric pole, and getting electrocuted instantly. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday June 21 at Malali near Bajpe. The deceased was a resident of Acharigudde in Malali.

Moolya was returning home after providing outlet channel for the water that had got stranded near the Anganwadi building, when tragedy struck. It is suspected that he would have unknowingly touched the live wire which was present behind a banana tree located near an electric pole. The victim is survived by wife and a daughter.

The people of Malali came together, and vented ire on Mescom junior engineer, Jagadish Murty, who came on the spot of the accident, and took him to task, holding Mescom responsible for the loss of life because of what they termed as utter negligence.

A case was registered at Bajpe police station. Post mortem was conducted at Ganjimath health centre.
