Bangalore, Jun 20: Policemen attached to Mahadevapura police station here have arrested Ratnamma (28), a resident of Mahadevapura, and her brothers, Kumar and Muniraju. The policemen claim that Ratnamma had arranged to kill her husband, Muniswamy (52),  with the help of her brothers, in retaliation for doubting her character.

The policemen are on the lookout for three other brothers of Ratnamma, Manjunath, Prakash, and Venkatesh, who they say, were also roped in the heinous act. While Muniraju is a farmer, the others work as auto rickshaw drivers.

Muniswamy had married Ratnamma after his first wife and her son died. He was operating a shop at Mahadevapura railway gate. Ratnamma has two children, Prajwal (7), and Nandakishore (5). Ratnamma’s mother sold vegetables near Muniswamy’s shop in the past, and the acquaintance turned into friendship, which culminated in the marriage of Ratnamma with Muniswamy.

Of late, Muniswamy saw some change in Ratnamma’s behavior, and often expressed doubt about her character. Angered by this, Ratnamma complained with her brothers, who in turn, planned this murder, it is said. On the night of June 8, they hit Muniswamy with lethal weapons when he was returning home at around 10 pm after closing his shop in a two-wheeler.
