Mangalore, Jun 17: MLA J R Lobo on Monday June 17 inaugurated three wet well projects undertaken by KUDCEMP under Mangalore City Corporation.
The wet wells are constructed at Kodialbail, Dambel and Kodikal.
Speaking after the inauguration, J R Lobo said that these three advanced projects are a milestone in the history of KUDCEMP. "With the inauguration of these wet wells, major sewage problems, like overflow of manholes, will be solved, especially in the city areas," he said.
These wet wells pump the sewage water and push them towards Kudroli major wet well unit, from where it is pumped to Kavoor and then to MSEZ, where advanced purification process takes place and the water can be used for various purposes, he added.
The well in Kodialbail has a capacity of 75 HP, the one in Dambel has 35 HP and Kodikal 25 HP. All the three projects have been fitted with two advanced high power motors, out of which one will run, while the other will be on standby. There are altogether 22 such wet wells in and around the city of Mangalore.
The major advantage of having wet wells is that water can be reused and the block or overflow of manholes can be prevented.
Corporators Prakash Salian, Rajneesh and Prakash Alape, KUDCEMP executive engineer Yashwanth, Congress leaders T K Sudhir, Mohan Mendon, Krithin, Nelson and other officials were present.
