Beltangady, Jun 17: In commemoration of the golden inter parish Konkani singing competition of Konkani Natak Sabha, Belthangady Varado inter parish singing competition was held on Sunday June 16 at Belthangady Parish.

The singing competition was inaugurated by Vicar Var of Belthangady Varado Fr James D’Souza by lighting the lamp along with vice president of Beltangady Parish Pastoral Council Mr Vincent D’Souza, president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza (capuchin) and general secretary Sunil Menezes.

Speaking on the occasion Fr James D’souza wished all the participants every success.

In both the categories 122 competitors from Beltangady, Arva, Madanthyar, Ujire, Indubettu and Badyar parishes of the Belthangady Varado participated in the competition. 

The following competitors qualified for the semi finals:

Below 10 years:
Solo – Venisha Sequeira, Ujire and Delisha Lobo, Indubettu
Duet – Joshna Ashita Sera and Snehal Gloria D’Souza, Madyanthar

Walter Colaco from Bendore, Edith D’Souza from Angelore and Jude Fernandes from Milagres were the judges for the competition.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Gladys Rego introduced the judges, Martin D’Souza compeered the programme and Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks.
 
Prize distribution ceremony for the qualifier of semifinal was held after the competition. The prizes were distributed by vicar var of Belthangady Varado Fr James D’Souza along with president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza. Tresa Pinto announced the results.
