Puttur: Man falls into well, survives 12-hour ordeal braving heavy rain

Puttur, Jun 12: In an incident that was nothing short of a miracle, a man survived a 12-hour ordeal in a deep well, and came out alive.
The incident occurred at Kubalady in Noojibaltila near Kadaba in the taluk on Tuesday June 11.
Saji (40) from Kubalady was returning home at about 7 pm on Monday, when he accidentally slipped and fell into an open well located near the house of Y Joseph in Kubalady.
He went unnoticed for a long period. He stayed on in the deep water, braving rain and shouting for help, but no one seemed to hear him.
On Tuesday morning, a person passing by this path heard some voice from inside the well. He peeped inside, and found Saji struggling in cold climate and knee-deep water.
Another person named Guruvappa Kallugudde, who reached the spot sometime later, went into the well and lifted Saji with the help of a rope.
Saji was thereafter shifted to a hospital in Mangalore for treatment.
Some expressed the opinion that the survival of Saji after falling into the shallow water of such a deep well, as not less than a miracle.
