Bangalore, Jun 12: A delegation led by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, met chief minister, Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday June 11, with a request to release compensation to the families which faced unforeseen loss of life and property at Perne village in Bantwal taluk, after a tanker carrying LPG to Bangalore met with an accident on April 9 this year. The inferno which spread rapidly on the occasion, had killed several persons, injured some more, and destroyed houses and other assets.
The delegation demanded sanctioning of compensation to the distressed families of Perne from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, and for extending other government facilities to the affected families.
The chief minister, who received the memorandum submitted by the delegation, promised to consider the plight of these families on humanitarian grounds, and to sanction sufficient compensation to them.
Urban development minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, zilla panchayat member, Prakash Shetty, member of the local gram panchayat, Tulajaksha Shetty, Congress leaders, Pius Rodrigues, B H Khadar, president of the committee of distressed people, Ashok Rai, along with office bearers, Umanath Shetty and Sundar Shetty, accompanied the minister. Some more people also were with the delegation when the memorandum was submitted.
