Karkala, Jun 11: The investigating officials have found that Prabhakar Shetty, who allegedly murdered Poornima from Mallar in Renjala village in the taluk on June 3 after acting for long like being in love with her, had pledged the red coral chain found in her neck at Manappuram Finance Ltd, Moodbidri.
In the meanwhile, three friends of Prabhakar, who reportedly helped in disposing off the lady’s body, have been arrested from Moodbidri. They have been identified as Praveen Tauro alias Babli, Amaresh, and Guruprasad. The policemen are on the lookout for two more accomplices in the case.
Reportedly, Praveen and Guruprasad are auto rickshaw drivers by profession, and their auto rickshaws were used for transporting the lifeless body of Poornima.
After killing Poornima, who pressurized him to marry her, at Moodbidri with the help a knife and nylon rope, Prabhakar Shetty allegedly carried her body to Mastikatte Shediguri in Hosabettu with the help of his four friends, before burying it there.
The accused persons, who were produced in the court, were remanded to judicial custody.
