Mangalore, Jun 11: A retaining wall of a house at Bajjodi here collapsed due to heavy rain on Monday June 10 night, causing damage to another house located at a lower level.

The house belonged to Leena Pinto. The wall collapsed on the house of Maria Cutinha (54), who stays alone.

It is said that the wall was built about three year ago, and at that time the neighbours had reportedly warned that it might collapse with rain as the house is situated on a hilly area.

Maria has two sons Reevan and Reethan, both of whom have priestly vocation, and two daughters Reema and Reena who are in Bangalore. While Reema is married, Reena is working and looking after her mother's financial needs, it is said.

Though the incident damaged the house, no major injury was reported. However, Maria is said to have hurt her hand.

Kankanady police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
