Muscat: Lancy Lobo elected president of MCCP at annual day event

Muscat, Jun 10: Lancy Lobo, young and energetic community leader of the Konkani community in Muscat with a keen interest in Konkani theatre and stage performance, has been selected as the new president of the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) for the year 2013 – 2014 during the annual day function held on Saturday June 8 at Sts Peter and Paul Church main hall. He has taken over the mantle of MCCP from Lawrence Alva who led MCCP for the 21st year of operation in Oman.
The annual day celebration began with a thanksgiving mass at 10.15 am in the church. The opening of the cultural show organized at the Parish Hall began at 12 noon with a Parameshwara choir sung by Apolinaris and his team. The president, Lawrence Alva welcomed the gathering of around 600 people on behalf of his team (VP-sport and finance - Ajith Waldar, VP Cultural – Clita Crasta, general secretary - Sonia Martis, sports secretary - Loveline Rego, honorary treasure - Dolphy Frank, internal auditor - Philip D’ Souza, spiritual secretary – Fredrick Castellino, and Valentina Rodrigues (secretary, community services). He expressed his gratitude to the MCCP for giving an opportunity to serve the community.

Lawrence Alva then handed over the program to young and dynamic compere Ajith Waldar and ever graceful Lavina D’sa. The whole day program was hosted by Ajith and Lavina. They made the celebration truly perfect. Everything went on smoothly and without a hitch.
Kids' dance was amazing and spectacular. Their dance reminded the 1970 Bollywood style, the thadka (mix) of Modern Konkani and Bollywood style. Kids enthusiasm was really amazing and stunning. Participants were: Lovette Rego and Arren Crasto, Lanette Rego and Adrin Crasto, Renessa Waldar and Shawn Menezes, Ashlyne Crasto and Vivian Martis and was choregraphed by the dynamic Jocelyne D’souza.
A dance performance by Domina Rising Star group was joyous. The Participants were: Adventina Rodrigues, Phiyola D’souza, Rishitha Picado, Riyah, Pearl Menezes, Elvita,Rihana, Vanessa Rego, Rihana.
Later, a dance by Galetian Rock stars dazzled the audience. The participants were: Priyanka Edna Mendonsa , Michelle Siona Gonsalves, Rishal D'souza, Shaveena Menezes, Roshal Lobo, Rebecca D'souza. The dance was choregraphed by Priyanka Edna Mendonsa.
Konkonchi Paijana dance entertained the audience for the song which explained the culture of South Canara. The participants were: Priya Menezes, Stanely Menezes, Melita Alva, Arun Lobo, Jocelyne D’souza, Shailesh Cutinha, Sonia Martis, Austin Crasto. The dance was choregraphed by Jocelyne D’souza
Different stage comedy performed by our MCCP star comedian Peter Gantalkatte and other comedy actors Edward Mendonca, Raphael Pernal, Walter Mendonca, Alwyn Pinto, Jacintha Periera and Jecintah Mendonca. Our community comedians truly made the audience have fun and laughter.
Cultural show was bustled with fun, merry and beautiful. Whole program was spectacular and fantastic.

This occasion was also used to felicitate Helen Lobo, (Supervisor for Primary Section) Indian School Al Ghubra, who won the most prestigious MONPRIT award and Rita Pais, Indian School Muscat, who won the Certificate of Excellence at MONPRIT award Ceremony. They were fittingly felicitated with a memento by the president. MCCP is proud and applauds both of them for this achievement.
Executive Committee 2012-13 were felicitated by Rev. Fr.Dennis Lobo for their whole hearted and selfless efforts and make the MCCP year, a resounding success. He commended the Executive Team for it’s incredible job in carrying on the good work by stimulating and retaining the culture and unity for building a stronger community. Thus, 21st year of MCCP was memorable for each one of us.

New president Lancy Lobo is a well-known actor and a person who is ever willing to take any responsibility with a smiling face and loved by all in the Mangalorean community. Served MCCP as Cultural Coordinator in the year 2007-08, vice president – cultural, spiritual, community services in the year 2010-11 and also wholeheartedly supported all the committees. He is hailing from Kelarai . Eldest child among 6 beloved children of Alphonse Lobo and Late Benedicta Lobo. Married to Anitha Lobo and having children, Lenita Lobo and Andril Lobo. He is Eldest child among 6 beloved children of Alphonse Lobo and Late Benedicta Lobo. He works for Khimji Ramdas group for their Pizza Hut venture as Area Manager.
His aim is to improve the unity, love, understanding among the Mangalorean community and wants to set a different level of entertainment and fun. Create opportunities and a platform to bring out new talents especially among the children and the youth as a means towards good physical and mental development.
The year 2012-13 was dedicated to Mangalorean YOUTH of our parish. In order to commemorate this, a youth Song was sung by EC-2012-13.
Winner of the Cookery competition was declared and prize distribution ceremony was held.
The winners of the cookery competition Priya Menezes was given prize by Samuel D’silva.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Clita Crasta.
Housie Housie game was conducted at the end of the program by Loveline Rego and Philip D’souza.
