New Delhi, Jan 8: The national capital woke up to the coldest day in over 70 years with temperatures plummeting to 0.2° Celsius as icy cold winds swept Delhi on Sunday morning.
However, there was a respite from the fog cover that had engulfed north India over the past few days disrupting air traffic.
The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 0.2° Celsius, seven degrees below normal during this time of the season.
The maximum temperature was 18.7°, two degrees below normal, the Delhi Meteorological Department said in New Delhi.
This made Sunday the second coldest day in the national capital with a lowest of minus 0.6° having been recorded in 1935.
