Kundapur: Tallur L N from taluk chosen for international art show in Europe

Kundapur, Jun 8: Tallur L N from the taluk has been chosen for representing India in the ‘Art Unlimited’ section of the prestigious modern and contemporary international art show, ‘Art Basel 2013’.
The art show is being organized at Basel city on Switzerland-Germany border from June 13 to 16. Tallur is being sponsored by Camolde from Mumbai, and Nature Morte Gallery from New Delhi.
As many as 39 select artists have been invited to participate in the ‘Art Unlimited’ section of the above art show. A total of about 300 galleries from the world over will be exhibiting the art works of the artists working for them, at this show.
Tallur L N was born at Tallur near here in 1971. He secured his Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Mysore University, and Master of Fine Art degree from Baroda University. He also has under his belt a degree on contemporary art forms from Leeds University, U K. Tallur at present lives in South Korea.
In 1995, Tallur was awarded the scholarship of Karnataka State Fine Arts Academy, followed by national scholarship by the government of India in 1996. He was awarded the Inlaks Fine Arts award in 1997, and ‘Emerging Artiste’ award in New York in 1999. In 2003, he also bagged the award instituted by Sanskriti Foundation New Delhi. In 2012, he was chosen for the ‘Skoda – 2012’ award, which carries a prize money of Rs 12 lac, for his contemporary artifacts.
Tallur has organized art shows and workshops in USA, China, Europe, Germany, South Korea, London, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore so far. The creations of Tallur under ‘veni vidi vici’ will be on display at the coming art show. The highlight of Tallur’s artifacts being kept for view at this show at Basel city is a model he has created to express the bond Basel missionaries have with the coastal districts here. This creation has made use of roof tiles, which happen to be the contribution made by Basel missionaries.
