Puttur, Jun 9: A Hitachi driver died of electrocution after he accidentally came in contact with a high tension electricity line near Boluvaru on Saturday June 8.
The deceased has been identified as Jithin Kumar (26), son of Janardan Poojary from Ariyadka. The incident took place when he was transporting Hitachi vehicle in the truck to Boluvaru.
Jithin was working for a construction company based in Puttur. While transporting his vehicle in the truck, he saw a high tension electricity wire hanging. To check whether the wire was touching the vehicle, Jithin got down from the vehicle to check. Meanwhile the careless driver moved the truck ahead and as a result the wire touched the Hitachi vehicle and Jithin was electrocuted.
Soon after the incident, truck driver Seetharaman absconded. Ramesh Bhat filed a complaint against Seetharaman in Puttur traffic police station.
Jithin who was working as the driver from past two months was the bread-winner of the family and lost his life due to the fault of the truck driver.
Puttur block congress president Hemanath Shetty, Ariyadka panchayat member Monappa Poojary, Addu Koudichar, Vedanath Suvarna among others visited the government hospital.
Mescom carelessness
Locals complained to the MESCOM authorities several times about the high tension wires hanging in the area. They also alleged that the authorities did not take any action in this regard.
