Mangalore, Jun 7: B A Mohiuddin Bava, legislator representing Mangalore (north) constituency, said that added thrust is now being laid on the formation of Greater Mangalore. He informed that most of the rural areas presently falling in his constituency will become a part of this ambitious project.
He gave this information after handing over a memorandum containing this request to urban development minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake, on Thursday June 6 at Bangalore.
“Rural places falling under Gurpur, Neermarga, Ulaibettu, Adyar, Gangimutt and Paduperara gram panchayats, which are located in Mangalore (north) assembly constituency, will be included in ‘Greater Mangalore’ after obtaining the feedback from the citizens of these areas. I have submitted a memorandum in this direction to the minister, as promised during the election,” Bava said.
Bava informed that a copy of the above memorandum has already been submitted by him personally to state chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and that in-principle nod for the project has been obtained.
He added that the entire gamut of changes and progress these rural places will undergo if they are brought under the said project have been explained to the presidents of these panchayats. Bava also stated that development works at these places will gain momentum once they become part of Greater Mangalore.
