Modi ignores Nitish Kumar at CMs' meet

New Delhi, Jun 5 (IANS): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi ignored his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar Wednesday at the Chief Ministers' Conference called here to deal with Maoist violence.

Modi walked past Nitish Kumar, who was talking to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP leader Raman Singh, when he arrived at the venue Wednesday morning.

The two leaders have been at loggerheads in the past. While Modi has been projecting himself as the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial nominee for 2014 polls, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nitish Kumar has opposed the idea, saying a person with a secular image should instead be nominated.

The two parties are partners in the National Democratic Alliance and run a coalition government in Bihar.

The JD-U is opposed to Modi, who was at the helm during the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat.
