Bangalore, Jun 4: In a surprising move, on Monday June 3, president of BSR Congress, B Sriramulu, dissolved all the party units including its core committee, state, district, as well as taluk units. Some sources claim that this step was taken with a view to ensure that no office bearer would be able to question the move of the president in merging it with another party.
However, state organizing secretary of the party, P R Ramesh, said that the founder president of the party had taken this drastic move to reorganize the units by dumping office bearers who were involved with anti-party activities, those who showed irresponsibility towards organizing the party, and the individuals who clandestinely joined hands with the opposite parties.
“During the assembly election, even some district presidents of the party had worked for the candidates from other parties,” Ramesh claimed.
He said that old committees are being dissolved to re-invigorate the party by infusing fresh blood. “We are strengthening the party in view of ensuing Lok Sabha election. Within a week from now, all these units will be re-organized. There is no question of dropping people who sincerely worked for the party. We plan to only leave aside those who worked against the party’s interests or were lethargic,” he added.
However, rumours making the rounds since some days claim that behind-the-scene efforts are going on towards merging BSR Congress with the BJP. The decision to dissolve the party units has only added fuel to these rumours.
