Mangalore, Jun 4: The orientation programme for the I PUC students of St Aloysius PU College, Mangalore was held on June 1at 9 am in the Loyola Hall. All the I PUC students dressed in pink and black were seated in the Loyola Hall. Mrs Charlotte D’ Souza, the Dean for Commerce and Arts welcomed the gathering.
The new academic year was symbolically inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The newly appointed rector Fr Denzil Lobo presided over the function. He conducted the prayer service for all the students starting with a bajan followed by his message. Quoting the names of some of the alumni of he spoke about their achievements.
He told the students gathered that discipline, dedication and determination in whatever they do is very important. He also spoke of the Jesuit ideals and the ethos of St Aloysius College which wants students not only to be informed of the subject knowledge, but formed and ultimately transformed into “men and women for others”.
The principal Fr Elvis C Lewis welcomed and motivated the students. The vice principal Rekha K Alva gave some important guidelines to the students. The toppers of our college Padma Shenoy (Science), Sadika Palke (Commerce) and Vivekananda shared their experiences with the students and motivated them. The programme concluded with the Vote of thanks by Dr Ganesh Amin, the dean for Science. The organizers of the programme Preetham V Shetty and Deeksha Pinto were also present on stage.
The II PUC orientation Programme was held on June 3 at 9 am in the Loyola Hall. All the I PUC students dressed in blue and black were seated in the Loyola Hall. Charlotte D’ Souza, the dean for commerce and arts welcomed the gathering.

He told the students gathered that they should have a goal in life and then automatically they would work towards achieving that goal. Quoting Shiv Khera he said “your attitude is your altitude” and inspired the students to have right attitude towards themselves, others and have faith in God. Quoting Swami Vivekanada he said that “our education should be man making, character building and assimilation of ideas and not just filling the mind with knowledge which could run riot “
