Chennai, Jan 5: A police team from Karnataka, probing the December 28, 2005 terror attack on the Indian Institute of Science, arrived here "as a follow up to some leads", amidst reports that they had arrested two persons in the city.
Police in Chennai, however, strongly denied that any arrests had been made.
The reports claimed that one Basheer and one Abdullah were picked up as they were preparing to leave the city for Mangalore. According to the reports, they’re being kept in a secret location and being interrogated.
City Police Commissioner R Natraj told PTI that the team was probing "various leads into the attack. The city police is helping them."
Meanwhile, a police team from Kozhikode in Kerala, where 47 gelatine sticks were seized on January 2, 2006 from the cloakroom of the main bus-stand there, conducted "enquiries" with officials of the Tamil Nadu Explosives Ltd.
