Bantwal: Father Muller multi-speciality hospital at Thumbay inaugurated

Bantwal, Jun 2: The official inauguration of Father Muller Hospital at Thumbay, formerly BA Hospital, was held here on Sunday June 2 with a fitting ceremony. The the 100-bed multi-speciality hospital was taken over by Father Muller Charitable Institutions from Thumbay BA Group recently.
MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the hospital by cutting the ribbon, while Msgr Denis Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocese, unveiled the plaque. Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza blessed the premises. The Father Muller College band welcomed the guests to the venue.
Addressing the gathering, J R Lobo said, "While most institutions have set up hospitals within the city, the BA Group opened its hospital in Thumbay mainly for the benefit of the rural people. Father Muller is a quick-responding institution especially for the poor class. It is commendable that Father Muller Charitable Institution has taken over BA Hospital in Thumbay. Father Muller is today growing towards becoming one of the top hospitals and institutions in the country."
Lobo congratualted the administration of the Institution for starting another hospital and thereby helping the poor and people of the rural areas to a greater extent. "Let Father Muller Charitable Institution shine bright like a lamp forever," he said.
BA Mohiudeen, founder and chairman of BA Group said, "The biggest gift to mankind is prayer, hence we have to be thankful to god for all the blessings. Man commits many sins knowingly or unknowingly. If we do not give education to our young generation, we are all sinners. Do not delay good deeds, because we come to this world only once."
On how the take over came about, he said, "Fr Patrick Rodrigues of Father Muller Institutions had come to attend a function here, and we held discussions about the take over. The deal was finalized over a course of three meetings."
"This hospital is like my son and I have given it in adoption to Fr Patrick," he added.
He also requested the Father Muller administration to retain the prayer hall built inside the hospital for patients and visitors for the purpose of offering prayers and not to alter it in any way.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, who is also the president of Father Muller Charitable Institution in his address said, "FMCI distributed free medicines and rendered free service worth Rs 7 crore last year, including free treatment and fee concessions to many. BA Group has handed over this hospital to us with a certain trust and in the coming days this hospital will be further developed to keep up that trust."
Minister for forest and environment Ramanath Rai said, "It was B A Mohiudeen's dream to start a hospital in this region. With a view to make it more effective and stronger, the hospital has been handed over to Father Muller Institution, and hence his dream will continue to materialize. The locals in this region can get the best of healthcare in the coming days."
Minister for health U T Khadar said, "People of surrounding areas are lucky to get this sort of medical care from a most trusted medical institute. BA Haji Mohiudeen is a role model of Thumbay and has done a lot for the development of Thumbay."
He further said, "With regard to healthcare in the state, the first prominent step is the ban on manufacture and sale of gutka. Gutka can be easily obtained for two or three rupees but crores have been spent on research for finding a cure for diseases caused by gutka. With a view to stop these diseases and to avoid further damage to people's health, this important step has been taken. I may be a minister to the state but for you people I will always remain as just Khadar."
J R Lobo, Ramanath Rai and U T Khadar were felicitated by the bishop on the occasion. B Ahmed Haji Moihudeen was honoured by Ramanath Rai.
J R Lobo launched health cards and handed over the first card to Prashanth.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues welcomed, Fr RIchard Coelho thanked the gathering and Titus Noronha compered the programme.
Mohammed Valavoor, taluk panchayat president was present.
