Mangalore, May 25: Slamming the BJP’s remark that the Congress is involved in revenge politics, B Janardhan Poojary said that the Congress has not indulged in revenge politics nor will it do so but it will work for the betterment of the people.

He was addressing the press in the city on Saturday May 25.

Poojary said, “The BJP has attacked churches, Masjids, and have even sent media persons to jail. That is the politics of revenge, not ours. We will make Byndoor, Mulky, and Kadaba taluks; there is no doubt. People over there are struggling and hence there is no compromise in that matter”.

“The BJP is holding a ‘Jail Bharo’ programme and they should go to jail. If they have courage, they should be in jail for one month and should not take the bail. BJP activists should not go to jail and even the BJP district president should not go to jail but those who have been involved in corruption must go to jail. Leaders like Eshwarappa, Nirani, and Somanna should go to jail because they send innocents to jail and should thus, know the pain,” he said.

“There are allegations of corruption against the BJP chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The BJP is talking about the CAG and they believe in CAG. If they have any morality, let them demand resignation from Gujarat chief minister,” added Poojary.

“The CAG alleges that Sheila Dikshit has misused power by spending government funds on an advertisement campaign. What did BJP do in Karnataka? The BJP government used to publish advertisements day and night. The CAG writes to the president urging the president to ask the government to impose guidelines, but if there are no guidelines, how can it be the violation of law?” he queried.

Commenting about the issue of sexual harassment of the police sub-inspector, Poojary said that the government should look into this case very seriously. “The accused, ACP T R Jaganath, should be suspended. This is a challenge to the government. The government should take active measures to protect women. The initiatives of Karnataka government should be a role model to the whole nation. The case should be solved within one month and the victim should get justice,” he added.

Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Vijayakumar Shetty, and Harikrishna Bantwal were present on this occasion.
