Udupi, May 24: “The state government's proposal to include Sri Krishna Math under the muzrai department is unnecessary as the administration of Sri Krishna Math is already doing well. The government at this stage should concentrate more on fulfilling the basic needs of people like water and shelter,” said former union minister and Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday May 24, he said, "Let the government handle the temples that are already under muzrai. Picking up this issue at this stage will not do any good or be beneficial to the government. It is not an achievement in any way."
He promised to bring the matter before the government and assured that he would not allow the government to interfere in the administration of Sri Krishna Math.
On the 'Jail Bharo' movement planned by the BJP on May 27, he said that BJP leaders should be ashamed of themselves first before calling the UPA corrupt. "What is the position of the leaders in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh? As far as overall development of the country is concerned, India is doing better than America and Brazil but we underestimate ourselves," he said.
“People have high expectations from the government, and I hope the CM fulfills them. I have directed all the newly elected ministers including the CM to be careful because there are active bodies like the Lokayukta watching out for any wrong move by the government,” he said.
"There may be chances that a minister or the CM may change with time. May be every senior leader will get an opportunity to become a minister," he added.
Commenting on next year's general elections, he said, “As per various surveys, NDA has more chances of coming to power at the center. We still have one more year in hand and the UPA government's achievement during this one year will be the decided in the general elections, and not the survey."
